History
The story of
Wesley Chapel
Wesley Chapel takes its name from a Methodist chapel built in the area in the early 1900s. For most of the 20th century it was rural Pasco County — cattle ranches, strawberry fields, and scattered homesteads. Growth accelerated in the 2000s as Tampa's northward expansion reached the I-75/SR-54 interchange. The opening of The Shops at Wiregrass in 2008 and Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel in 2012 signaled the area's transformation from exurb to suburb. Today, Wesley Chapel adds thousands of new homes annually and has become one of Florida's top destinations for relocating families.
